Sakpatenti Registered 5 New Appellations of Origin
Mitarbi, Skuri, Utsera, Bolnisi, and Zvare
National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia registered 5 new appellations of origin. From now on, Natural Mineral Waters – Mitarbi, Skuri, Utsera, Bolnisi, and Zvare will be protected against counterfeiting. In order to acquire rights to use appellations of these products, Georgian entrepreneurs shall be registered in the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia.
After Georgian entrepreneurs will start exporting Georgian products to the EU market within the framework of the Association Agreement with the European Union, the products protected by the Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications will be much more competitive. The products with such appellations give the customers a notice of their high quality and specific features. This will help Georgian products to occupy a segment of high-quality and expensive products on the EU market.
